Williams Brothers
First appearing on stage in 1958 as The Little William Brothers, the group was organized by Leon "Pop" Williams, the founder and father of the group known today as simply The Williams Brothers. The group recorded its first album in 1973. Since then, they have recorded 18 top-10 albums in Billboard and Cashbox magazines, out of which came three No. 1 records and three Grammy nominations. In April 1991, the group formed their record label, Blackberry Records, the first black-owned and operated record label in Mississippi with significant distribution. Their first release on the label entitled This is Your Night reached No. 4 on Billboard Magazine's gospel chart. They were also nominated for a Grammy Award for the same album in the Best Soul Gospel Album (Traditional) category in 1991 and won the Stellar Award for Best Performance Group or Duo (Traditional) in 1991. In January 1995, their release entitled In This Place, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts, was also nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Soul Gospel Album (Traditional) category in 1995.
