Lisa Whelchel is an actress, singer, and songwriter born in 1963 from Littlefield, Texas. In 1973 she became a mouseketeer in Disney's The New Mickey Mouse Club. Until 1976, she commuted between Los Angeles and Texas. From 1979-83 she starred as Blair Warner on TV's The Facts of Life, appeared in TV movies Skyward, Twirl, No Man's Land; feature-length films The Magician of Lublin, The Double McGuffin and made guest appearances on Love Boat, Mary Tyler Moore Show and Different Strokes. In 2012, she was a contestant on Survivor: Phillipines, and was the runner up to winner Denise Stapley.
In 1984, Whelchel released a Christian pop album entitled All Because of You. The album reached No. 17 on the Billboard Contemporary Christian music charts and she was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Inspirational Performance and was recognized as the writer of the title song, "All Because of You". She did not record a second album. While she was appearing on The Facts of Life, she made a cameo appearance in the music video for contemporary Christian music singer-songwriter Steve Taylor's song "Meltdown (at Madame Tussaud's)". The song was the title track from the album Meltdown.
