Atlanta-based rock quintet According to John was founded in 1996 and signed to the short-lived KMG Records where they released their debut project A2J in 1998. The album was produced by White Heart's Billy Smiley. After the demise of the label, the band was unable to find a new record label. Often compared to Jars of Clay for their songwriting and sound, the band released a couple of independent projects before calling it quits in 2003.
