The Channel Surfers were founded in 1997 and immediately drew comparisons to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Beastie Boys. The band had a stated purpose of creating current relevant music without watering down the Christian message. The band debuted at the Cornerstone music festival and was signed to the short lived Pamplin Records.
