Born in Hollywood in the 1960's, Mini Mendez didn't pick up a guitar until his late teens, but started writing almost immediately when he did, growing up on a steady diet of 20/20, The Runaways, and the Ramones, as well as Cheap Trick, Nick Gilder, and Sweet. After fronting a couple of garage bands over a six month period, Mini bought a bass and formed Christian power poppers, The Holidays. The band recorded two LPs for Broken Records, charting a couple of singles on national christian rock radio along the way. After The Holidays demise in early '92, Mendez formed the short lived Reckless Love; The Reckless Ways would soon follow.
