Pioneer Jesus music band J.C. Power outlet was the first Christian group to gain widespread exposure for a (limited) hard rock sound. The band was not as cutting edge as groups like Agape or Barnabas but perhaps for that reason attracted a wider audience. A California band, their music often seemed quite radical compared to the Calvary Chapel sounds of Love Song or Children of the Day.

The band was leb by Ron Salsbury. The group released two albums prior to Greg Prough leaving the band. Then in 1975, the group disbanded to pursue other musical endeavors. John Pantano and Ron Salsbury continued as a duo and released Hit the Switch in 1977 on Larry Norman's label Solid rock.
